Cambodia Casinos
There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are means around this, as is true of many borders.
The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that highlights many conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 table games.
