Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino betting is against the law. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that contains a number of luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
